My Skin Care Testimonial
I have been completely won over by Glimpse Intuitive Care line by XanGo!
In former a life I sold John Robert Powers cosmetics in the 1960′s, offered only in exclusive Department Stores. It was a beautiful line and fully committed to customer service. But, unlike Glimpse, was not ‘performance’ driven.
Unsatisfied ever since with skin care products from the top of the line, big name store brands to distributors with catalogs and home parties. Lots and lots of money was spent in achieving the Utopian perfect skin. Many were heavy, greasy, harsh and most were laden with chemicals. I longed for something that felt natural, was truly effective and either matched or exceeded my expectations. I also wanted a product in a price range that didn't cost an arm and a leg. One that's value went far beyond it dollar cost. I disliked intensely spending high dollar for something that at the end of the day, my skin was not any better for the using. Needless to say that I welcomed this skin care and was very excited to give it a try. This is my story..
I started Glimpse when it became available in November of 2008. My litmus test was to see if it would tackle an age spot that had appeared next to my left eye some years ago. I had been told it was ‘pre-cancerous’. As it grew and darkened, the texture changed as well, becoming rough and somewhat raised. It had gotten more and more difficult to cover up with make-up and blush.
I have to tell you I was disappointed for 2-1/2 months…Nothing! Oh, maybe a little lighter, but not much beyond a tiny scab. Frustrated, I scrubbed the area vigorously as I had with other scrubs prior to using Glimpse. It was red and sore, so I babied it with good coatings of Step 3, the Serum and moisturizer. For good measure, put some whole mangosteen juice on it too!
In mid January, I saw some peeling from the center of the spot. Under that peeling was pink, healthy looking skin! The peeling spread from the center til finally a small bump was left, followed by a ridge at the further most edge. The ridge remained reddish and slightly swollen.
In April I obtained the newly released Mangosteen Pericarp Oil, adding it to my regime of care, targeting the area. Within the next few weeks the swelling abated as did the last of the redness. The dark age spot is now completely gone!

While ‘The Spot’ was my singled minded focus for this test, other benefits occurred which had gone unnoticed until someone pointed them out. In the above pictures you will see the pores have gotten smaller, the puffiness under the eye has decreased and my face exhibits a nice healthy glow.
Glimpse is truly a performance driven skin care line which I highly recommend for dull, troubled, problematic complexion. Like me, you’ll be glowing about it!

Safe Cosmetics Goes Viral
Just recieved this invitation and wanted to share it with you! If you are like me, it has become more and more important to be using clean, all natural, non-toxic, nonchemically laced personal care and skin care products for myself and family.Folks are finally making a decision to ‘clean up’ their personal care act and it is happening like a virtual fire storm and going viral on the internet. I am extending this invitation to you, use it as you wish to share with others!
What an amazing summer!
The Story of Cosmetics has been viewed more than 350,000 times since it was released on July 21, tens of thousands of people have joined the movement to make personal care products safe and healthy for everyone, and Congress has received thousands of letters of support for the newly introduced Safe Cosmetics Act of 2010.
While we’ve really turned up the volume on this issue, we want even more people talking about these toxic products, watching the video and taking action to support meaningful policy change.
Watch this video
We’re asking you to help in two ways:
1) share the video with your friends, and
2) host a viewing party this fall at your home, community center or office (think brown bag lunch). We put together a handy viewing party kit with tips to make hosting easy, from serving snacks (popcorn, anyone?) to sample discussion questions to DIY cosmetics recipes. And don’t miss our myth-busting fact sheet.
While you have this motivated group of people in one room, why not plan a visit to your U.S. Representative’s hometown office to tell him or her why the Safe Cosmetics Act is important to you? Congress is out on recess this fall, and office visits are empowering and easier than you might think!
Let us know how your party goes by posting photos on our Facebook page or writing us at info@safecosmetics.org.
Together we’re showing chemical manufacturers, companies and elected officials that we really mean it: we want truly safe cosmetics for everyone, ASAP!
Sincerely,
Mia, Stacy, Lisa, Marisa, and all of us at the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics
P.S. We’ve received an outpouring of support for the film – and the bill – from cancer survivors, salon workers, leaders among safe cosmetics companies, parents and concerned consumers. There’s been some misinformation circulating, too, which is to be expected when big changes are afoot. So why did we make The Story of Cosmetics?

Eleviv- Feeling Good Again!
Many of you have asked what is VIGOR, what is ELEVIV, should I have it, how do I get it and will it work? Read this report just in from Dr. Shawn Talbot, creator of the all natural Eleviv that has hit the market like a storm blowing straight line winds of refreshed vigor and enjoyment in life not experienced before. Watch the video.
I have had varying reports from my clients with amazing statements such as “My wife and I didn’t have any arguments this past week!”
Another said she didn’t notice much difference, but when I asked her secretary, she exclaimed, “OH, Yeah! She wasn’t grumpy and did not get upset all last week!”
A husband’s excited remarks included, “My wife came up from the basement and nonchalantly stated, ‘The basement’s flooded.’, as she passed through the living room. It took me a second to realize what she said, as normally she would have been hysterical and ranting. I love her on it!”
One thing I feel it is important to say, is that these statements all were made in response after a 1 week’s trial test.
Personally, one of my experiences has been recognizing no longer wanting to strangle the driver who pulls in front of me, cuts me off in traffic or waiting for the light to change. See there, I didn’t even call the driver an idiot or sitting at the light an infernal waste of time. I just feel nicer! Certainly more calm through out the day.
But you be the judge, spend a few minutes reading Dr. Talbott’s report and watch the video. Take your VIGOR SCORE and see where you are in your overall sense of well-being
Talbott’s own words:
This past week in NYC was a whirlwind. I presented 2 studies at the American College of Nutrition Annual Scientific Conference held at the New York Academy of Medicine.
Both presentations were well-received and generally covered the concept of improving VIGOR – one on balancing Inflammation & Stress hormones to improve Vigor – and another on balancing Immune System function to improve Vigor.
I was also invited to meet with medical producers for The Dr. Oz Show (I’m a big fan) – who wanted to hear about my new book and discuss ways for me to talk about Vigor on Dr. Oz’s radio and television shows.
I am frequently asked for “more information” about the general concept of Vigor and Metabolic Balance by health professionals who hear me speak – and there is a LOT of information to share, including This and This and This.
Here is the information that I shared with The Dr. Oz Show and with the physicians and scientists at the American College of Nutrition conference:
1. 1.Vigor Scientific Publication - this is a scanned PDF reprint from the peer-reviewed journal, Progress in Nutrition. The paper discusses the use of a an “ancient” approach (herbal “balancing” formulation) to address a “modern epidemic” (chronic stress). You can also buy glossy full-color reprints of this Vigor Publication at www.X1Tools.com
2. 2.Mangosteen Scientific Publication - this is a PDF draft of an invited manuscript submitted for publication in the Journal of the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association (JAIMA). Controlling inflammation is one of the primary biological effects of mangosteen/xanthones. Expected peer-review and publication is scheduled for Spring 2011 – but you get to view the draft manuscript as a educational service.
3. 3.Killer At Large documentary (Educational Cut) – this is a FREE version (20min) of my award-winning documentary about America’s obesity epidemic (obesity is related to both inflammation and to chronic stress) – and we send this version to any teacher or educator who wants to engage an audience in a discussion about the factors leading to (or solving) our obesity problems.
4. 4.Scientific Abstract & Slides (pdf) from the recent presentation at the American College of Nutrition. Some of these data were also presented at the Experimental Biology Annual Scientific Conference (Anaheim 2010). The general idea presented here is that there is a synergy between controlling inflammation and controlling stress hormones simultaneously - they “build” on each other’s benefits, so you get more anti-inflammatory effects if you also control stress hormones and you get more anti-stress effects if you also control inflammation. In this study, we used Xango mangosteen juice to control systemic inflammation – and we used the Eleviv herbal combination to restore stress hormone balance.
5.5.Vigor Book - this is a new publication outlining the entire concept of Vigor (“mental/physical energy” and the opposite of “Burnout”). I’m pleased that the book (which is only in its draft form until it is officially released by Hunter House Publishers in Spring 2011) has already been covered in several hundred magazines and newspapers around the country. All proceeds from sales of this draft version are being donated to the Operation Smile charity – so please get your copy now so you can educate yourself about Vigor and help a kid get a new smile (you’ll “feel good” in two ways). I will also be posting the AUDIO version of the book in the Podcast section of this website and on Apple’s iTunes.
I hope that this helps everyone who reads my blog to answer the “where can I get more information about Vigor” question. We are certainly raising awareness of Vigor out there in the world – so please share this information with anyone who you know who might want to “feel better” in the face of our chronically stressful lives.
Thanks for reading!

Are You Buying This?
Man Oh, Man everywhere I turn there are more and more folks I know who are taking medicines!
At first I thought, 'Well, Rita, YOU are getting older, a baby boomer, you know. Of course you're going to know more people who are taking medications, duh!' Then the next thought entered saying, 'Wait a sec, that can't be right. Let's think about this for a bit.' Here are a few more thoughts about taking medicine.
As a youngster there were few folks in the family that took medications. A diabetic grandmother took daily insulin injections. I watched her eat a favorite candy, chocolate covered cherries; savoring them and then telling me not to tell granddad she'd eaten them as she stuck the needle into her thigh. This was my only real experience of someone doing regular medication.
The overall view was, when you were sick you took medicine, like a cold and if you had a headache, you took an aspirin. The medicine cabinet in the bathroom stored such needs along with topicals, like iodine, bandages for cuts, toothpaste, mouthwash, bicarbonate of soda. Immunizations became prevalent and administered at school such as tetanus and polio, diphtheria and measles. Life was pretty simple and in general relatively medicine free.
In adulthood I witnessed science and medical care advancements that brought about breakthroughs in testing and diagnosing of diseases and disorders. Made sense to me then, as was said, that if an ailment were caught early enough the effects of it would be bested or eliminated. The progression however, as I look back, was inevitable...
I witnessed Momma, who had always been a neat house keeper; everything had a place and everything was in it's place; succumbing to a kitchen table filled with medications and supplements that had far outgrown storage in the medicine cabinet. Then they outgrew one shoebox, then another, to finally having to shove them away to create a spot for a dinner plate. The woman was literally a walking doctor and pharmacist's dream come true! She spent hundreds of dollars a month on meds, visits to doctor's office and hospital testing. The upshot to this was the observation that Momma wasn't getting better! She was, however, getting more dependant on her doctor and medications. Now isn't that ducky, an old woman seeing more of strangers in her waning years, those who viewed her as an income source, than her own family because weakness prevented her socializing.
Am I sounding a bit mad? Let me stick to the point.
In the past few years have you noticed tv ads going beyond "BUY THIS ASPIRIN!" and 'Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh, what a relief it is!'
Pharmaceutical houses, seeing the boon to marketing and profits, now tout medications for all sorts of diseases, disorders and preventives, suggesting your tell your doctor you want their product. Isn't that like a child telling a Mom at the store, 'I want THAT candy, Mommy, the one with the pretty blue butterfly!' ? Talk about suggestive, mental control!
I heard it said that the pharmaceutical houses have a push on to get everyone, from the age of 6 mo, taking 5 to 6 pills daily. Then there's the news that when a medication is trial tested with humans, their target 'success' rate is 40% of positive response for market by the FDA. These would seem like outrageous statements. Ones that at this point I'm willing to believe, given the fact one requirement in their advertising is the listing of drugs' SIDE EFFECTS. Have you listened to those? I have to say to myself, 'Is this some kind of joke? How stupid do you think I am to use your drug knowing it could make my tongue swell, sleepwalk, commit suicide and that it could seriously KILL me?'
Thanks, but no thanks! Are we still caught up in the infantile mentality to exuberantly grab the newest, shiniest THING out there? Or has maturity prevailed in poopooing hollow and shallow promises? Drug companys are banking (pun intended) it!
I look around me now and see nearly EVERY person I know, whether friend or aquaintance is on some sort of medication...whether prescribed or not. Where along the way did we buy into the thought we cannot live a healthy life without them? My concluding opinion is we have entered into being no longer a Wellness society but rather an Illness industry.
You be the judge.
As a point of reference, see the chart below, albeit a small survey, it says much of what is happening in the world of medications.
This survey from http://mysurvey.com/had 118 respondents, here's what was learned.
I have to admit, as a respondent to this survey, I am one of the 15% who does not spend money on prescriptions.
Happy healthy living to you!
